    My Impossible Tyranid Challenge

Post by Anarkhia on Mon Sep 17, 2012 8:25 pm

So i've finally got fed up of seeing my tyranids base-coated and have decided to do something about it. My goal is to get absolutely every single one of them done to a table top standard.

So far these are what i've already got done. (the photos seem to flatten most of the quickshade for some reason, but hey)

    Winged Hive Tyrant

    58 Fleshborer termagaunts

    72 Hormagaunts

Mawloc (this was painted for me, i just tweaked the basing to suit my army)

    Trygon Prime

    Trygon

More to come very soon, and loads still left to do Neutral

I've almost got 45 genestealers done, and one of my tervigons. So i should be uploading a photo of them shortly.

One day i pray that all my armies will be fully painted (to at least table top standard), but until then i'll have to work my arse off Razz

There's a couple of distant roars quaking across the night sky. Shouldn't be too long now before they make themselves apparent Very Happy

Lol it's my only reliable form of dealing with vehicles from range. Unlike others who can afford 400 dark lances in a 1500pt game Razz

Haha, both of those are 18" range. Zoanthropes have had a little nerf because you can get a deny the witch roll. And the twin linked brainleech devourers can't touch heavily armoured vehicles.

18" + the 6 inch move- 24" range. Alo against heavy vehicles like a land raider, how about light vehicles you munch through em. and you said it little nerf.

Oh lest not forget your mawlock appearing count as shooting st6/7 ap3 all under LARGE template now anywhere on the board!!

hmm its true tyranids are really basd at shooting and should be revamped because 6 ed has made em useless!!

lol S6 Ap2. But the mawloc is seriously not worth it at all in competitive play imo. It's an expensive 1 trick pony that will most like die on the turn it arrives, and even if it doesn't scatter and hits its target, will unlikely get its points back.

Your vehicles can minus 6" off my range, so moving makes no difference haha. We have 2 good guns (both competing in the elites slots, which there is a lot of good options to choose from), and the other is a good combo for a hive tyrant/carnifex. Other than the range is pants and everything else is predominantly close combat stuff

Your rhino is the same points as 6 gaunts, or 3 rippers so don't complain lol

in theory 6 gaunts can potentially kill a squad of 10 marines (approx 36 gaunts worth), a rhino can kill in theory 2 gaunts. In theory your gaunts can capture and contest objectives. In theory my rhino cant.

lets not detract from the original post, and lets all agree on what i said, deal? done Razz.

Seriously Good work man on the nids.

In theory a dark lance can take down an emperor battle titan worth 4000pts lol

You're wrong, and thanks Very Happy

Not quite sure which unit to be doing next

No because it's armour 14, so i can only glance it, while a dark lance can keep rolling 6's on the damage result table to remove all it's structure points. I win Razz

arent they assault 2/3 and 3 in a squad. so thats 6/9 shots, potentially 6/9 hull points thus one dead titan. I win Razz
